It's so hard to imagine looking at my butt pocket or waistband and NOT seeing my insulin pump. That familiar weight of it that sometimes pulls down my shorts is just comforting in a way...

Site change...was too lazy to find my Quickserter and my backpack with Mio's was right next to me so...I put that one in. I'm still not too fond of them besides the fact that they come all in one and are easy to carry. I'm just a Quickset kinda girl ;)
You may notice that *GASP* it's pink. Why is it not blue? It's just what I had at that moment...
You may also notice that *GASP* is that a tummy site? YESSS!!! The second tummy site ever since i started pumping that did not result in crazy gusher crime scene blood everywhere scenario.
That being said: the tubing's annoying LOL My next set will be back in my back.
Also: When I took my arm site out...a good chunk of skin came with it. NOT cute. I was kinda fascinated though....i mean...it literally just came off with the old site LOL

Anyway...back to this class project....been working on it all day -__-

135/365 Deafinitely ....interesting.

135/365 Deafinitely ....interesting.

First off, thank you for giving me the opportunity to vent.

All weekend my ears (especially my right one) have been bugging me. Achy and feeling like someone was covering them....today at school...I couldn't hear. The pain is gone but my left ear was maybe at 80% capacity...my right one? maybe MAYBE 10-15% :(

I sign. Meaning I can converse in ASL (American Sign Language). This is great because me and my friend P. can communicate at school with no problems and without him having to write everything out or having an interpreter there (and I don't have to use my voice which is nice sometimes, too...sometimes I just don't want to talk/listen to people) but today....today I RELIED on signing because my ears were no good. I was ok in 1-on-1 conversations with my hearing friends...but as soon as I was part of a group I had a super hard time trying to keep up with what was going on, to the point where I just ended up being frustrated and didn't even try anymore. It was kind of interesting to realize how well two ears work together and how surround sound is a gift.

By the way, I have decided that the cafeteria is a HORRIBLE place...I have noticed before that I have trouble understanding everything that is being said when the background noise gets loud (like at iHop the other day) but today was just...not cool....

I ended up retreating to the library where it was quiet and no one talked so I liked that...that's where my friend P. found me a little after and asked me what's wrong...of course, I was preaching to the choir complaining to him (in ASL) about hearing people and how they talk too fast and don't look at me while talking etc....P has hearing aids but they don't help him too much.
He just smiled and said "Welcome to the Deaf world." and "I feel so connected to you today" his humor is awesome and he cheered me up. I tried to tell him how much I respect all he goes through in a school-environment with so many people talking and talking and not slowing down...but he said, it's different for him, because he's used to it, and my brain is wired to receive input from my eyes and ears...his brain completely focuses on gathering info from what his eyes see.

my insulin pump, phone etc have been on vibrate for a while now...I just can't hear things beeping anymore...I haven't heard the oven preheated signal for a months...

Once my ears clear up, I'll still have to go and have my hearing checked (like I had planned to do last week) because I have noticed that I just don't do well in environments with a lot of background noise in general and to me 70% of people mumble. I'm kinda scared...I don't want to have to rely on yet another battery operated gadget. My insulin pump is enough....but I do feel very blessed because even if I should lose my hearing one day...I know ASL, so I know it wouldn't be the end of the world. But it's still scary...a good of amount of diabetics experience hearing loss and I can't help but think of a connection there...I'll see....

It says: "A Little Bit Longer and I'll be Fine" and the back says my name, Diabetes Type 1 and asthma.

133/365 The Truth

133/365 The Truth

I wish I could turn back the time to Oct 2009 for a min. I was in Honolulu. I did not have type 1 diabetes yet. I was in paradise.

99% of the time, im fine. I accept D. all the needles. insulin. being attached to my pump 24/7. counting carbs. but every once in a while. I want to go back. life was easy.

and that’s the truth.

PS: pic up there was taken 1 month and 11days after diagnosis. My blood sugar was over 600...meter only reads up to 599...anything above it says HI. A Little Bit Longer was all I could listen to...
